Casa de los Angelitos

Shelters pregnant women in crisis and is located in Harbor City. Handmade items can include anything needed by an infant (boy & girl), i.e., receiving blankets, small quilts, sweaters, caps, booties, etc., and/or anything a woman might need (sweaters, slippers, etc.)
 
The shelter also welcomes donation of diapers and other baby care items, new maternity clothes, new sleepwear, as well as toiletries suitable for women (including sanitary napkins)

Flossie Lewis Center

On 6th St in Long Beach, the residential home is a substance abuse recovery program for pregnant women and young mothers.

Handmade items for infants through 8-year olds and women, such as blankets, quilts, hats, caps, booties, slippers, sweaters, scarves, as well as hygiene items, diapers, 10 - 12 inch wall mirrors, blue-ink pens, hard-bound journals (for diaries), twin-bed sheets, re-usable plastic dishes, bowls, forks & spoons are useful

Rainbow Services

Based in San Pedro, provides shelter and programs for women victims of domestic violence and their children, infants through teens. Handmade items may include quilts, blankets, afghans, slippers, hats, sweaters, clothing items from infants through adults.
 
School supplies - including arts and crafts supplies - toiletries, toys (infant through teen) are helpful. They also accept donations of NEW clothing items.

Veteran Affairs Hospitals, Long Beach & West L.A.

Serve hospitalized American veterans and their families. Suitable handmade items include lap-ghans (for individuals in wheelchairs), hats, caps, scarves, and slippers.
 
Donations of new white socks (male/female), white T-shirts (male/female - all sizes), playing cards, board games, puzzles, books, magazines, boxed greeting/holiday cards, postage stamps, writing utensils, toiletries are also accepted (NO razors, blades, glass containers, nail clippers).

Child Life Program at Harbor-UCLA Medical Center

Serves pediatric patients and their families throughout the hospital. Handmade items include lap-ghans (for individuals in wheelchairs), blankets (infants through teens), hats, and caps.
 
Donations for infants, toddlers, pre-schoolers, primary school children, and adolescents are appreciated. These may include stuffed animals, receiving blankets, onesies (12-24 mo), baby caps, balls, books (English/Spanish), Fisher Price toys, children's board games, model and craft kits, coloring books - all ages, writing journals, Crayola crayons - markers - pencils in boxed sets, Matchbox cars, DVD movies and CD's - no violence nor sex, travel-sized toiletries, pull-on pants (toddler to teens for males & females), baby wipe re-fill packs. The Mindful Veteran Project

Serves US Active Duty, Guard, & Reserve members; all family members; and service providers or caregivers.

Their mission statement states that they guide veterans in using simple, practical, secular tools of mindfulness, empowering them to cultivate their inner strengths...

They have expanded their services during the pandemic to provide safe, direct delivery of whatever items or needs that have been communicated to them. They continue to deliver food, PPE, computers, arts & crafts materials, pet food/supplies, clothing, books, and household items.

They would appreciate Yarn Angel donations of afghans, lap blankets, toiletries, newly made and newly purchased  adult and childrens clothing.

Family Promise of the South Bay

The Family Promise of the South Bay provides shelter, transitional housing and after-care support. They provide a community-based approach to solve homelessnes, engaging both the local community as well as faith-based organizations. Families in the program receive a full complement of resources, support, and training as they work towards their own stability and self-reliance.

The Vision of Family Promise is that no child should have to sleep in a car, in a park or under a bridge, and that every family deserves a chance to be whole and have a roof over their head again.

Venice Family Clinic

Venice Family Clinic provides quality, comprehensive health care across 17 clinical sites, two Early Head Start locations, and through their street medicine program. Handmade items may include blankets (infants through teens), hats, and caps.
